Welcome to AC/DC Power Supplies

Switchers specified for startup surges

The SMC500/600 series of compact 500/600W AC/DC switchers from XP can deliver up to 80% higher power than their nominal rating for up to 500us at startup

Many industrial applications produce high peak loads of very short duration, particularly at startup. This means that system designers often have to overspecify power supplies for such systems with attendant increases in size and cost, both of which are directly proportional to output power.
The SMC500/600 series of compact 500/600W AC/DC switchers from XP eliminates the problem by delivering up to 80% higher power than their nominal rating for up to 500us.

This means peak loads can be handled by a smaller, less expensive power supply than would otherwise be necessary.

In addition, efficiency is maximised and wasted heat minimised because a power supply's highest efficiency is attained when it operates close to its full rated load.

The SMC500/600 single-output power supplies have universal AC inputs (90-264V) with active power factor correction and output voltages from 3.3 to 54V DC, adjustable by +/-5%.

Where more than 600W is needed, one version can deliver 800W with high line (180-246V AC) input or integral ORing diodes are an option that can be used to facilitate current sharing.

Each model comes in a 233 x 108 x 63.5mm housing and is complete with cover and fan for easy mechanical and electrical installation.

They do not need external cooling arrangements.

Efficiency is at least 80% with 230V AC input for outputs above 5V and 70% minimum for 5 and 3.3V output versions.
