SL Power Electronics Corp, the company established following the merger of Condor and Ault and the industry's leading manufacturer of power supplies for medical applications, announces the Condor GNT400 range of 300W internal power supplies. Specifically designed for medical applications requiring a small, cost effective power supply capable of providing 300W, the convection cooled GNT400 will interest those medical system designers looking for a quiet, reliable power source. Many medical equipment manufacturers are concerned about the negative impact fan-cooled equipment can have on what medical authorities would prefer to be a sterile environment.

Airborne contaminants such as germs and dust can be moved around by fans and the noise fans generate and the inherently low MTBF of fans can be additional reasons to use a convection-cooled power source.

MTBF for the unit is 300,000 hours per Telcordia measurement, which makes the GNT400 ideal for such medical applications providing power for solenoids, pumps, motors and onboard computers.

The GNT400 supplies are available as U-channel chassis units measuring just 100 x 177 x 40mm.

For those who wish to use fan cooling, a fan cover can be specified and, with this in place, the unit is capable of an additional 25% in output power, with a peak of 450W for 1 minute.

Efficiencies are typically 91% at 240V AC.

In standard form, the units are available in single main channel output versions with voltages from 12 to 48V inclusive and all models have an additional 5V 100mA standby output and a 12V at 0.25A output suitable for fans.

The GNT400 series has standard connection features for inhibit, power fail high and low warnings.

Operating ranges for temperature is 0 to 70C (with derating) and input voltages are from 80 to 270V AC.

The units are all fully approved to the international medical safety standards of UL/EN/IEC60601-1 and have less than 100uA leakage.
